Tapioca Starch Plantation in Thailand

Thailand produces approximately 22 million tons of tapioca roots per year, with the average annual productivity of 7.5 tons/acre on a good crop year. Tapioca is typically grown in Northeastern, Eastern, and Northern provinces of Thailand. Due to continuous research into the development of new varieties,

Thai tapioca have the following advantages:
(1) high starch content,
(2) high root yield,
(3) disease resistance,
(4) well adapted to the environment.

All varieties are introduced by conventional methods. No genetic modification is used, as such all Thai tapioca products are GMO-Free. Some of the typical varieties are:

1) Huaybong-60 - High Yield, High Root Diameter, High Starch Viscosity
2) Rayong-72 - High Yield, High Root Diameter, Adapted to Northeast Thailand.
3) Rayong-7 - High Yield, Good Adaptability
4) Rayong-9 - Suitable for Ethanol production
5) Rayong-60 - High Yield, Early Harvest
6) Kasetsart-50 - High Yield, High Root Dry Matter
